Hiring a DJ for school dances: Tips for a fun night
Let’s face it; children and teenagers love music and love to dance, right? For any Boston DJ working a school dance, there are several points to keep in mind in order to keep the teens happy and moving.
-Play songs they know. Nothing slows down a dance more than a bunch of kids standing in the corner, not knowing the songs you are playing.
-Play songs which encourage them to dance. While slow dancing may be nice for new young couples, teens enjoy music where they can get out and show their moves.
-Keep the music flow steady. Even if you need to take a quick break, the music should never stop. Plan ahead in order to ensure there is a steady flow to keep everyone out on the floor.
-Keep the slow songs to a minimum. Depending on the age group of the school you are playing at, chances are the administrators do not want a DJ who is only playing slow songs which encourages couple dances. Most Principals and teachers would like to see kids dancing together instead of coupling off.
- These are just a few easy tips in order to make the night a truly memorable even for the school kids. Your goal as a DJ is to have the kids leave the dance thinking it was the best dance ever.
