The Recipe for a Great Wedding Reception

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Your big day is quickly approaching, and your head is most likely swarming with the “To-do’s” that need to be done.  You will want to ask yourself such questions as whether the table seating arrangements are finished, whether the centerpieces will adequately match your décor, and whether the wedding favors are all finished and ready to go.  After all those are answered, there is another big question to ponder – is everything set with the wedding DJ?  For those having Disc Jockeys Worcester, MA, there is a few things to keep in mind in the weeks leading up to your special day.

-Do you have all your special dances lined up? These are dances such as your opening entrance, your first dance, the mother/son dance, the father/daughter dance, the song for the bouquet being tossed, as well as a song for when you depart the wedding reception venue.  These particular special songs are a great photo op, so you will want to make sure you have everything set with those.

-Will your wedding DJ play a large enough selection of music?  This is actually a very big point to keep in mind.  Nothing is more likely to leave a bad thought in people’s minds when they go to a wedding and there is only one type of music being played, such as all 80′s music for 5 hours straight.  While a selection of the couple’s favorite music from the 80′s should definitely be played throughout the night, it is never advisable to play only one genre.  A good DJ should have enough knowledge and sense to play a variety of all types of music which will help make sure everyone is dancing.

Planning a Surprise party? Surprise the guest with a DJ!

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Surprise parties are always a fun-filled event, with all your guests waiting in the dark in anticipation of the special guest to make their appearance.  With hearts pumping, the individuals wait until that moment the guest walks in and everyone erupts with cheers of “surprise!”.  For a new twist on a surprise party, why no consider hiring quality Boston Disc Jockeys to spruce up your surprise party?  You may even opt to have the DJ play a special song when the guest walks in, depending on the nature of the party.  If it is a surprise birthday party, why not have the DJ play a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday to you” and encourage everyone to sing along?  Or, if it is a surprise baby shower, your DJ can have nursery rhymes of some sort playing when the guest of honor walks in.

Having a DJ for a surprise party is highly personable, and you are able to include any sort of music you would like them to play throughout the event.  This is sure to have everyone up and dancing instead of sitting around at the tables talking. The DJ can also orchestrate games and contests throughout the party as well as offer up prizes you supply for the best dancer, best contest winner, and so forth.

Hiring a DJ for school dances: Tips for a fun night

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Let’s face it; children and teenagers love music and love to dance, right?  For any Boston DJ working a school dance, there are several points to keep in mind in order to keep the teens happy and moving.

-Play songs they know.  Nothing slows down a dance more than a bunch of kids standing in the corner, not knowing the songs you are playing.

-Play songs which encourage them to dance.  While slow dancing may be nice for new young couples, teens enjoy music where they can get out and show their moves.

-Keep the music flow steady.  Even if you need to take a quick break, the music should never stop.  Plan ahead in order to ensure there is a steady flow to keep everyone out on the floor.

-Keep the slow songs to a minimum.  Depending on the age group of the school you are playing at, chances are the administrators do not want a DJ who is only playing slow songs which encourages couple dances.  Most Principals and teachers would like to see kids dancing together instead of coupling off.

- These are just a few easy tips in order to make the night a truly  memorable even for the school kids.  Your goal as a DJ is to have the kids leave the dance thinking it was the best dance ever.

Wedding DJs can help your little ones have fun

Monday, January 30th, 2012

At any wedding where children are invited, it is likely that at some point the children will make their way out to the dance floor while the older guests stand around and smile at their whimsical way of dancing.  If that is the case, having a Wedding DJ Hartford, CT will be the easiest way to make this happen.  Children truly enjoy dancing at weddings, and by having a DJ playing all the best selection of well-know children songs, you can truly guarantee a fun night for even your littlest party guest.  Little ones love to participate in wedding favorites like the chicken dance, and a great DJ will provide props such as fuzzy chicken masks for your children to don in order to make the dance even more fun.

Your wedding DJ can additionally play the songs which they know will have all your guests on the floor dancing the night away.  Talk to your wedding DJ prior to your special event in order to advise them of any special requests you will like them to play, such as your special song with your new spouse, or even your parents wedding songs for a special moment during the reception. Imagine the look on your parents faces when they hear the wedding song they danced to many years ago being played over the speakers.

Condo Lifestyle: Is It for You

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

While more people prefer a condo lifestyle, make sure you know what it entails before you start investing in one of the condos in downtown Austin.  Others might find it the perfect home for them but it may not be the right kind of housing for you.  You need to weigh the pros and cons before making such an important decision.  Condominium living requires zero maintenance when it comes to the outdoor facilities such as the pool or gym.  You need to worry only about cleaning and maintaining your own unit.  This is most convenient for most, as it will give owners more opportunity to spend their weekends for relaxation rather than mowing the lawn or cleaning the pool.  Location is the foremost reason why people love living in condominiums.  Most of these Austin downtown condos are just a block away from their place of work.  Those who thrive on city life would likewise prefer these condominiums as entertainment facilities are typically just around the corner.  However, one downside about condominium living is the closeness between residential units.  There will be instances when late night parties or rambunctious play of children from next-door or from the unit above yours could easily disturb your sleep.  Other things you need to keep into consideration are the monthly condominium dues and the strict guidelines imposed on residents which some may found too restricting.

Fun ID’s – Your Way

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Identification is extremely important, that is why we always carry them around. When emergency strikes or when we simply need to prove our identity, ID cards come in handy. For employment purposes, ID’s give the hint whether to give an employee access to certain facilities. Even in small gatherings and meetings, ID cards or badges (from hereon) are used to easily identify the participants.

Indeed, ID badges give important details and are always useful. However, especially for the young ones or for those who just want something unique, ordinary ID’s can look plain, bare and boring. When you attend a special event where you use an ID badge, you would want to keep this as a souvenir to commemorate (or show off) your participation, wouldn’t you? So why not give ID badges a twist – and make it fun!

Of course, fun is a loose term. A company or government ID must include information that must not be forgotten upon printing. Also, the picture must not look wacky or blurred. Professionalism must be present on the ID. One must consider these when trying to do some small changes to make their ID’s fun.

Okay so what changes can we do to make our ID’s fun? Upon designing the layout for the card, try playing with colors. ID’s usually are put on all the time, so look at it as if it is an accessory. Also, experiment with different shapes – not just the common rectangle and square for the picture. Try adding semi-circles or swishes then rotate them in an interesting angle. You can also play with opacity and blur. Also play with various fonts – you need not to use one font for every word in your badge. You can use a curvy font for the first letters, and then use the “sans” font-types for the rest. Awaken your inner artist!

Upon printing, choose an ID badge printer that can print the color combinations you have used to the closest color as that on your computer’s monitor – I have experienced using an ID badge printer that does not print quality graphics and colors, and in effect, the ID badges that I printed looked drab.

Once the ID badges are printed, use an ID holder that is fun and colorful. There are lots of colors and styles to choose from for your ID holder! They also come cheap, at around one dollar each. Also, why not use a unique sling or pin to come with it? Slings can be colorful also, but consider the event or place that the ID’s are going to be used. You do not want puppies-and-kittens printed slings on a formal meeting, do you?

Once again, I would like to stress how important it is to maintain the professionalism of the badge especially if it is going to be used in a formal gathering. The background and overall theme may be fun and unique to look at, but be sure that the important details of the badge (name, contact details, position, logos, etc.) are readable.

So you see, ID badges need not be serious and boring to be effective. In fact, making ID’s fun can even make them less likely to be forgotten at home!
